Steve Barnes is entering his first year as a member of the Hornet coach staff after graduating from Ithaca College upon completion of his master's degree in Sports Psychology. Barnes helped coach the Ithaca Bombers to a top 5 finish in the UNYSCSA conference in 2006. Barnes also spent four years at Ithaca College as an undergraduate at Ithaca.
During his career at Ithaca, he was a four-time All-American and holds the school record in the 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyle events. Barnes was also a member of the school record holding 800-yard freestyle relay team. In 2002, Barnes and named the UNYSCSA Conference Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Barnes is a also 17 time All-Empire Eight Selection. Barnes was also an three time CSCAA Academic All-American during his collegiate career.
