Head coach Bob Kent's Kalamazoo College Men's Swimming and Diving team captured 6th place at the 1996 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, which were held at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

The Hornets recorded 182.0 points at the meet to finish behind first-place Kenyon (Ohio) College (572.5), second-place Denison (Ohio) University (360.0), third-place Union (N.Y.) Kalamazoo's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival, Hope College, finished eigth with 140.0 points. Kalamazoo also finished sixth at the NCAA Championships in both 1980 and 1993, with sixth place being the highest team finish the Hornets have ever recorded.

Senior Brian Miller also had a strong meet, earning All-America honors in three events, including a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.

Overall, five Kalamazoo College records were broken at the championships.
